krome let me ask, you do mostly illustration type work or you do designing too? and if you are a designer too i have to ask if you are like me, went to art school because you could draw and knew there was no money in illustration and went into design instead...lol, i literally had no idea what graphic design was when i went into college (im old..lol in 9 but i knew illustration had no future for me _________________ MUSR SELL NOW, SZ 10-10.5 CHEAP!

^ take it homeslice, take it. you never know, you may like it.
nah chris, but a friend of mine is in that exact situation, but didn't realized it until our senior year. he graduated as an illustration major, but since i'm guessing there aren't too many illustration jobs that pay well, he works as a photo retoucher. if you don't mind me asking, how's that bfa treating you? did it land you a gig as an in-house designer or do you strictly freelance? cause i'm having issues depending on freelancing since it's only been a year since graduation, and all of my friends that graduated before me that jumped into the industry (9-5 design job) right away are on the verge of quitting their jobs cause they can't stand it. and that kinda leaves me in the middle of the see-saw.

well first let me say the economy sucks and our line of work is the first to go... when i graduated it was right after 9-11 so it was just as bad, i found nothing and the jobs i was interviewed for ended up going with more experience, and i had been freelancing before i graduated...it did nothing, in this line of work its all about who you know, the job im at now i got (after i was laid off to job outsourcing...) because of someone i knew. now the work im doing isnt fun or even that creative but it will pay the bills and the freelance is where i can do my own thing....its rough out there right now so take whatever you can get even if its garbage work laying out text if the title is "graphic designer" even though you know its not design, just something to show experience will help. ive looked at some of your work and youve got a hell of a lot of talent so that wont be a problem for you its all about if someone wants to give you a shot... are you located in ny? i still know some people in the stamford area and i know of a few places that might be looking if you want to take the hike in to boring ass ct...oh and as for the bfa..lol, it helps but i learned more in 6 months in the real world than i did in 4 years of school....its just a formality to get you in the door... _________________ MUSR SELL NOW, SZ 10-10.5 CHEAP!

^ lookin good chris. make sure you post up the progress
azi, was that done in illustrator?
appreciate it chris (moore), i might have to follow up with you on that. i'm part-timing at ccs mailorder in manhattan right now designing for their brand, but i don't know whether or not they're going to hire me full time. for all i know they might drop me after 3-4 months saying they don't need a designer anymore, then i'm back to sqaure 1. i know everyone has to start somewhere, so i'm happy it's a paid internship, but i guess i just expected more after graduation. i thought i wouldn't have any issues finding a job, but in reality i had the hardest time. companies didn't get that my book was a single branding project, with the client being nike. you have no idea how many times i was told 'ok, your work is great, but all this stuff is for nike so we don't really feel your style is suitable for us. why don't you just apply to nike?'. i mean damn, it's like nobody ever heard of the term 'branding' before. anyways, enough of my rant. bottom line is, i don't know whether or not to peace and find a job with benefits already, or to just wait it out with them and see if they hire me.
speaking of ccs:
vector pieces for shoulder patches that'll be going on their field jackets in the fall, samples below it.

Thanks Krome [I never did catch your actual name ]
I was kinda thinking about just fixing up the lines, then leaving it like that, maybe adding a bigger head of his or something in the background, then stopping. But defintetely just keeping the lines and a background.
EDIT: I skipped down to the bottom and didn't get to see those patches/patch vectors. SOOOOO DOPE! Good job _________________

right now with the economy they will keep you around for as cheap as possible so if that means not bringing you on FT then thats what theyll do...it sucks but its reality right now, this industry is hurting, bad!
i met with a creative headhunter and he said gave me a lot of advice and for your work just think of communication arts and make your work like that kind of stuff.... then he told me mine was more advertisement based and not that style...lol, CA has an advertisement annual too...lol, but who knows, ill give anyone any advice that i can and help with what i can, ive been FT for like 5 years now and freelancing for 7 so ive been around to see the bs, ive talked to tons of people too that know people and all that....so just ask away if you have any questions, who knows i could help you now and in 5 years you could be hiring me...lol, just remember dont burn any bridges in this industry, its all about who you know... _________________ MUSR SELL NOW, SZ 10-10.5 CHEAP!
