Title: Jason Voorhees Dunk High 2.0 Premium
Description: I figured i would do it with color this time since the customer gave me a lil bit of creative control. The first ones featured a girl and these are a guy this go around. The right shoe is the "before" and the left shoe is the "after" if you will. I also decided to go for a more gruesome, dirtier painting style contrary to my normal high color animated antics. Custom box as well.

Title: Godfather AF1 Low
Description: Based off of the movie The Godfather. The outsides have silhouettes of the three main characters. The toe has the godfather logo on it. The front of the shoe says "Sicily" because that's where the mafia originated/is located in. The flower on the inside is based off of the rose in the Don's breast pocket.

Title: Rage Against the Machine Cortez
Description: Essentially they're Nike Cortez shoes with a Rage Against the Machine theme. Made for a friend, they're my 2nd real customs.

Title: Holy Mama Vans Slip-on
Description: The Virgin Mary is on the left shoe surrounding by doves flying onto the right shoe. Inside on the insoles it says "Holy Mother."

Title: Fresh Prince Air Max 90
Description: Based on the graphics from the TV Show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air when Will Smith is spinning around in his gold throne. They come with 2 sets of laces, neon green, and neon pink. I went with 80's theme and how he used to rock funky neon/multicolored gear on the show all the time.

A-was hands down the best entry this go round for me. The amount of detail and precision really impressed me. The outer (I always forget which is medial and lateral) side of the right shoe did it for me.
B-these arent bad to me...just a bit boring. I still have a huge issue with outlining...it rarely works for me personally. BUT, I must say the sore looks REALLY, REALLY well done
C- these are cool, but they dont grab me. the base shoe and layout with the faded cement/elephant was an interesting take. I see definite skill, but it all needs to be brought together a lil better IMO
D-the painting on these is really well done....like I said in the original thread though, the canvas back part stops the flow of an otherwise beautifuly done shoe.
*whoops*
as I was saying...if it had been one of the other colors uses instead of the off white, I think I wouldve liked them more
E-I like the vibrant colors. I woulda liked these more if the patterns had been continued either on the toe replacing the pink, or through the lace area replacing the gold. I think the inclusion of both solid colored areas throws this pair a bit for me
F-its so fitting that these were done on canvas shoes cause it looks like something you'd see on a canvas hangin in a church. VERY well done
G-I definitely respect the concept behind these. They really do look like the background from the opening of the show. But its just not for me personally....way too loud and busy, but I could def. see a Fresh Prince fan loving these. I like that the inspiration behind these wasnt something we'd see alot, although there was a Fresh Prince pair in one of the earlier contests I think...still...this take on FP was original
H-if it werent for the back area around the collar, I wouldnt believe these were customs. I'd think they were a factory made shoe that I needed to get when they came out. well done _________________ why try to fit in when you a stand out? |
