|
|
|
|
I have decided to make a forum about this to avoid clutter in the forum.
This thread will have all--if not most--guides on how to take care of your clothes.
Key Info:
- Minimal Wear - By doing this, it helps to keep the fabric tight. Prevents clothes from aging easily.
- Washing Inside out - Basically prevents clothing from fading. Helps to keep prints/colors intact as well.
- Dry Cleaning - Only removes dirt but does not affect colors from fading.
- Minimal Wash - Avoid washing your clothes on a regular basis. It keeps it away from aging.
- Delicate Cycle - A cycle that makes your delicate fabrics intact. This cycle is highly prefered if using the washer.
- Hand Washing - The damage cause by your washer will be avoided by using this method.
- Soaking - By dipping your jeans in warm water, as a result, denims will shrink. Not only that, it can also remove excess dye to avoid/minimize bleeding.
*Process might take about 1 - 2 hours. (Hotter the water, the more shrinking your denims will take.)
- Starching - Used to stiffen up jeans. This helps creases to be done in certain area's and thus create "honeycomb/whiskers*" effect.
*On your denims, the creases behind your knees are called Honeycombs or Whiskers.
Shirts
- Washing Inside out - To make sure print and color would still be intact. *results may vary, depending on how you wash them.
- Hand Wash - Voluntarily done.
- Washing - If stains are made, but detergent directly on stain. Put a little more of detergent in washer. Make sure washer is set to delicate cycle with cold water.
- Drying - Make sure to hang dry to avoid shrinking and fading.
*Use dryer at own will.
*Wooden Hangers preferred. Hanging might stretch your clothes/collar line.
Pants/Denims
- Washing Inside out - By doing so, this avoids unwanted crinkles coming from the washer.
- Hand Wash - Voluntarily done.
- Washing - Make sure washer is set to delicate cycle.
- Hang Dry - By hanging it to dry, it makes your jean look fresh. Putting them to the dryers give them "little hairs."
- Starching - Making your denims look more fresh and crispy.
*Basic caring for denims. This does not imply to different types of denim.
Sweatshirt/Sweaters
- Washing Inside out - Prints would be intact and fading can be minimized.
- Hand Wash - Voluntarily done.
- Washing - Having washer on delicate cycle with cold water. Helps sweatshirts/sweaters
- Drying - By hanging sweaters to dry, this avoids "little hairs" and shrinking.
Hats
- Never Wash the Cap - The cap is made of wool and its shape would be ruined.
- Washing the Band - Mix detergent and water into a spray bottle. Spray band and gently rub it down with wash cloth. Rinse wash-cloth with water and and clean-up the left over soap.
- Shrinking/Stretching - After cleaning the band if you want it to adjust to its fit, either stretch them by using a hat stretcher or shrink them by wearing it for perfect fit as it dries.
- Cleaning - If its dusty, I suggest to just take a lint roller or masking tape and just keep dabbing until satisfaction.
- Deeper Cleaning - If stains are spotted, Use a cleaning formula which could be purchased at stores.
- Water Repelant - After cleaning your hats, make sure to spray it water repelant to keep dust and water away.
* Not only limited to New Era Fitteds
These tips are consist of basic knowledge. If you have a better more effective method, please let us know. Thank you. _________________

How much will shirts shrink with a dryer? And might I add, do not hang dry your shirts with a hanger, it will stretch out the neck. _________________ refs: nycsneakers, c0ldh3arted, DJLEFTY, kicksofdeath, peterxfaijai, D124G0N, I OwN D RoCk, Wonto0nz, bklynballplaya, scybord, christopherr, 1995chardx, DaReal, lliness, MINTY 24/7, abaldflipguy6, TrueFaqs, LiQuIdSwOrDs, deez nuts, IfIHadAMillionDollars, mental_therapy, Exist, harlemh6, supadupaspanky, themaster10029, purplenurple1414, oliveryochest

I have a question. How do you maintain the neck line around shirts. My favorite shirt neck line is kind of stretching, how do you stop this? _________________ Dump Me. |

When you guys are drying your shirts, make sure to use the WOODEN hangers, plastic and wire hangers does stretch the neckline.
As for the stretching of it, Only way I could think off on shrinking them is to use the dryer. It will only shrink by a little though. Thus this might shrink the whole shirt after washing.
It really depends on the quality of your shirt.
I don't think you could proportionately shrink it. Again, depends on the quality of the shirt. _________________
